Picture
The famous old Merseyside Derby. The way to gain and loose local pride. Its describes as a family derby because of the vast amount of families that have both Liverpool and Everton supporters. Also, the 2 clubs grounds arn't far away at all. Its seperated by Stanley Park where the fans travell to watch the derbys.

During derby days, Everton fans would sit along side a red. Its very common around Liverpool but to most reds. Its the game that they look forward to the most on the fixture list. To every liverpudlian or evertonian, this game is the biggest of the season. The rivarly was dominated by the blues for a long period of time. Dixie Dean was known as the father of the derby because of the 18 goals against the reds but when Bill Shankly arrived at Anfield, it all changed. Derbys where dominated by the reds throughout the period of Shankly's reign and when he stepped down, Paisley inflicted even more pain. But still, Evertons Dixie Dean still was the standing king of the game. Not until a man that came from Wales arrived from Chester City. In 1980, Ian Rush signed for Liverpool FC. Before he signed for Liverpool, we was desperate to play for Everton. He was even an evertonian during his childhood but now, he is a kop legend. His most historic height was during a derby game at Goodison Park on the 6th of November 1982. Bob Paisley led the reds to a victory but the result was unbelivable. A Shocking 5-0 victory by the reds as Rush scored 4 against the blues. Lawrenson scored the other. Ian Rush made history on that day and right now, he is the current record holder for the most goals scored in the derby. 25 goals is the record and it flew past Dixie Deans record of only 18.
